Stop Chasing Tech Trends
Don’t chase what’s popular. Build on what is transferable.
One of the biggest mistakes I made during my transition into tech was following the crowd. I focused heavily on what was trending and what seemed most popular on social media, assuming that if it worked for everyone else, it would work for me too.
What I didn’t do at the time was pause and evaluate my own background, strengths, and transferable skills. Instead of choosing a path that aligned with my experience, I tried to fit myself into roles that were trending and talked about online.
I had the certifications, but I needed to understand what I could offer with the knowledge I already possessed.

When I finally stepped back and reassessed, that’s when ServiceNow made sense. It aligned naturally with my interest in processes, service management, problem-solving, and structured workflows. Once I stopped chasing trends and started building on what I already knew and where I saw myself in the long run, the transition into tech became clearer, more strategic, and far less overwhelming.
With the ServiceNow CSA and CIS-ITSM certifications, the goal is to dive deeper into the realm of ITSM, which, to me, is the foundation of all the other modules. Once you master the necessary processes and how they flow across real-world scenarios, mastering other modules becomes far more intuitive.
Ultimately, transitioning into tech isn’t about following trends; it’s about alignment. When your background, interests, and skills match the technology you’re learning, the journey becomes easier, faster, and more sustainable.
